Nancy has served as Chief Executive Officer of Thunder Bay Counselling since 1991, providing steady, values-driven leadership to a trusted, multi-service organization rooted in community well-being. Under her leadership, Thunder Bay Counselling has grown into a comprehensive agency with an annual operating budget exceeding $6 million and twelve core programs supporting substance use health and mental well-being, gender-based violence, child, youth and family services, employee and family assistance, and financial empowerment.
Nancy brings deep expertise in governance, quality, and accountability. She has been an accreditation reviewer since the late 1980s and has served as a reviewer with the Canadian Centre for Accreditation since its inception. Her governance experience spans local and provincial nonprofit organizations, where she has served as both a director and officer, and she is widely respected as a trainer and coach in governance theory, board effectiveness, and organizational stewardship.
Her board and sector leadership includes extensive involvement with organizations such as the Ontario Association of Credit Counselling Services, Family Service Ontario, the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, Children’s Centre Thunder Bay, and Addictions and Mental Health Ontario. Nancy is also deeply engaged in collaborative community planning, contributing to initiatives including the Violence Against Women Service System Table, Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions Network, Domestic Violence Court Advisory Committee, and the Noojmawing Sookatagaing Ontario Health Team.
In recognition of her leadership and longstanding contribution to community safety, justice, and well-being, Nancy is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award and the Victim Services Award of Distinction from the Ministry of the Attorney General.
