Thunder Bay, ON, January 26, 2017 – Today, Thunder Bay Counselling announced its 50th anniversary with a look back at the organization’s many faces and transformations. To kick off the birthday milestone, representatives unveiled a new brand that builds on the organization’s long legacy while presenting a more relevant look that reflects the organization today and for the future. The organization will now be known as Thunder Bay Counselling; establishing its position as the leading community counselling service provider.
“Thunder Bay Counselling has come a long way since its humble beginnings as Lakehead Family Service Agency in 1967,” says Nancy Chamberlain, Executive Director. “2017 is about showing the community what this agency has become. We are no longer solely a centre based service provider. Our professionals meet people where they are at in their lives and in the community- be it at home, school or work.”
A new logo with a butterfly design was also unveiled.
“The butterfly captures the remarkable transformation that this agency has undertaken over the past 50 years,” says Nelson Sidorski, Chairperson, Thunder Bay Counselling. “It also speaks to our core values that put diversity, positively changing lives and providing barrier-free support to people throughout all stages of their lives at the centre of our work.”
The golden anniversary celebrations don’t end there. Thunder Bay Counselling announced details of a full-day 50th anniversary event that will take place on June 1, 2017. Former and present Board members, staff, community partners and guests will be taken on a journey into the past through to present day through themed historical rooms that will include speakers and interactive displays.
The community is invited to take part in Thunder Bay Counselling’s 50th anniversary activities by volunteering, sharing stories on social media using #TBC50 or by attending the June event.
