RBC and Thunder Bay Counselling Team Up to Raise Community Funds

Employees from RBC and Thunder Bay Counselling hit the court for a new tournament in Thunder Bay. Teaming up with Thunder Bay Couselling on January 21st, RBC hosted a bocce ball tournament to set the ball rolling, raising funds and awareness for the not-for-profit organization. The tournament had a high score, bringing in $6,500, which included a donation from the RBC Team Action Grant celebrating RBC employees for participation and fundraising efforts.

Organizer Tasha Coughlan-Mandryk, a Commercial Account Manager at RBC, explains that as individual she feels a need to support organizations like Thunder Bay Counselling because it provides services to individuals from all walks of life. “One’s social status, income level or educational background does not preclude them from requiring the services of TBC. It is comforting to know that should I or anyone else I know require support with addiction, mental health issues or require counselling services that Thunder Bay Counselling will be there to provide that support.”

Thunder Bay Counselling is the leading provider of personal and workplace support services. The not-for-profit organization provides counselling, education and support services by professional counsellors to help people make positive changes in their personal, family or work lives.

Coughlan-Mandryk also sits as a board director for Thunder Bay Counselling, which makes her mindful of the initiatives and programs that Thunder Bay Counselling provides. “Without these services and programs I believe some of our community members would be forced to face some very dire situations on their own. I feel it is imperative that Thunder Bay Counselling has the funds it needs to deliver its programs to our community members. This fundraiser was a small way I could contribute to supporting what I feel is such an incredible organization.”

2017 is a special year for Thunder Bay Counselling, celebrating 50 years in Thunder Bay. The community is invited to take part in the milestone by volunteering, sharing stories on social media using #TBC50 or by attending a full-day 50th anniversary event that will take place on June 1, 2017.
