About PAR

The Partner Assault Response (PAR) program provides a community-based 12-session group program for court mandated intimate partner violence offenders from the criminal courts in Thunder Bay. The program provides a safe space for individuals to explore their beliefs, attitudes and expectations.

Each PAR group is co-facilitated by two facilitators, ideally of different genders to support diverse perspectives. As our current team includes female facilitators, we are currently seeking male-identifying applicants to complement our groups. Groups currently occur on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings although scheduling is subject to change.

  • Knowledge regarding partner abuse and the dynamics of violence/abuse
  • A general understanding of the policies and procedures of police, Crown attorney’s office, courts, probation and parole as they relate to domestic violence
