We are partnering with NorWest Community Health Centres in opening the doors to a state-of-the-art treatment hub designed to provide comprehensive support and resources that address the root causes of homelessness and addiction. We are currently seeking a full-time permanent Substance Use Health Counsellor to support the HART Hub.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Substance Use Health Counsellors are responsible for:

  • Assessing clients utilizing standardized assessment tools
  • Engaging clients in the treatment planning process
  • Providing counselling and case management using a variety of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches and modalities
  • Collaborating with other service providers
  • Advocating for and supporting clients to assist in meeting their needs
  • Participating in ongoing and regular supervision and professional growth
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation and reports

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate requires at minimum:

  • Bachelor level degree in a social science
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Solid clinical framework with knowledge in a variety of therapeutic interventions including CBT and DBT
  • Ability to provide culturally based interventions
  • Use of a personal vehicle for transporting clients
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • A sound theoretical framework for working in mental health and substance use health
  • Superior communication skills
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Understanding of Indigenous culture and history with awareness of culturally respectful services
  • Experience and skill in group facilitation
  • Experience working with systems such as mental health, substance use health, social assistance, child welfare and criminal justice

PAY RANGE

$33.42 to $39.69 per hour
