24 MONTH FULL-TIME CONTRACT (35 HOURS PER WEEK)
This new position will support children and youth who are victims of gun violence, gang violence and / or human trafficking, together with their families by collaboratively working with a specialized team of service partners to provide trauma and evidence informed wrap around supports in the areas of mental health, justice system involvement, and other community supports. The Court Support Worker will directly support children, youth and their families through the court process by completing needs assessments, preparing children and youth to testify, accompanying them to court, and providing post-court support. In addition, this position will coordinate and facilitate groups for children who have exposed to guns and gangs and who are struggling with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in a social science
  • Three (3) years’ experience working with children, youth and families
  • Knowledge of the judicial system
  • Understanding of the issues related to and impact of violence and trauma
  • Experience and ability to work collaboratively with families, service partners and systems
  • Skilled in client engagement and group facilitation
  • Use of a personal vehicle and an ability and willingness to transport clients
  • Flexibility in hours of work to accommodate client needs and court scheduling

Salary

$28.14 to $33.42 per hour
