Position Overview

Thunder Bay Counselling is looking for a qualified individual to join our team as a Youth Outreach Counsellor (YOC). This position will work collaboratively with various agencies and service sectors to provide short-term counselling and support to vulnerable youth in our community. YOCs provide support through assessments, developing treatment plans, and by bridging gaps/referring to appropriate resources and supports in the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level degree in a social science
  • Registration with a regulatory professional College
  • Three (3) years’ experience providing counselling
  • Experience working with youth
  • Sound framework in a variety of areas, with an emphasis on addiction, mental health and trauma, including working knowledge of CBT, DBT skills and trauma informed practice
  • Training and experience in crisis intervention, including assessing and intervening for a risk of harm to self and others
  • Use of a reliable personal vehicle and a valid Ontario Drivers’ License

Benefits

6% of earnings in lieu of group benefits; Paid time Off benefits (28 days per
calendar year)

Salary

$33.42 to $39.69 per hour
