Volunteer Information
Help Change Lives in Your Community.
Thunder Bay Counselling Centre is seeking volunteer participation to help us to develop our vision and provide services to the community of Thunder Bay.
Volunteering provides a unique opportunity to get involved, to join a helping social network and to be part of a caring community. Any amount of time you can give is valuable time for those we support! The Centre provides orientation and training.
Volunteers must be 19 years of age.
Volunteer opportunities include activities such as child minding or baby holding; meal preparation; organizating donations such as clothing and food; providing site assistance for Centre events. Vounteers are also needed to support our CHOICES program.
Child Minding/Baby Holding: We are seeking volunteers to provide a few hours of caregiving to young children while their parents are receiving help at our centre. Experience with young children is an asset and a criminal records check will be required (and paid for by the centre).
Meal Preparation: Baking and preparing light lunches for Hope Place for women and their children attending programs and services.
Organizing Donations: Supporting programs and services by sorting clothing and food donations in preparation for distribution.
Site Assistance: Volunteers support the Centre in hosting workshops and seminars as well as community displays.
CHOICES: The Choices program is facilitated by trained staff and community volunteers who are invested in helping youth to reach their full potential. We need committed volunteers to facilitate group sessions that are held one night per week for 10 weeks (approximately 4 hours per session). Orientation and training is provided to every volunteer.
