Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a process that
supports families to have an active and vital role in planning and decision making.  We offer Child Protection ADR in Northwestern Ontario as well as access to Family Mediation.

Child Protection Alternative Dispute Resolution

Child Protection ADR helps families develop plans for their children which address concerns raised by Child Protection Services.  ADR is a voluntary process that values and respects the voices of all parties involved.  It is often faster and less complex than court.  ADR strives to preserve and improve communication and relationships.  There is no fee for child protection alternative dispute resolution.  The program is supported by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

  1. Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is a process that brings together the family with service providers, including Child Protection, to develop a plan that meets the needs for safety and well-being of the children and family as a whole.
  2. Child Protection Mediation (CPMed) is a process where a mediator will work with your family and the Child Protection Worker to resolve issues to develop a plan for your child(ren) that addresses the concerns raised by Child Protection Services.
